Current versions of Chrome OS automatically enable secure DNS. Devices with this setting will see the following error message when navigating to a website on the Internet:

dns_probe_finished_bad_secure_config

This setting is disabled on our district Chromebooks but when a guest arrives to use PPS-Guest, they will have standard Google security settings turned on. For the device to operate this setting must be turned off. You must notify the guest before making this change for them. Show them how to turn it back on once they are off our network.

1. Navigate to:

chrome://settings/security/

2. Turn off the following setting under Advanced:
Use secure DNS
